RE: EternaBond application question

Whatever you do, get that mess off and clean it down to bare metal and as much off the roof as you can w/o damaging the roof material.

RE: South Carolina Rest Stops

The rest areas in this stretch are not large and don't have a lot of parking for trucks. So you may find no place to park as these fill up pretty fast with truckers, or boxed in when you decide to leave. If you can't find parking there, then there are many truck stops and such that will allow you to park for a few hours.
If you make it as far as the Georgia line, we have a huge welcome center just across Lake Hartwell. It sits on a hill and the traffic is not nearly as noisy as it is at the street level stops.

RE: What words or phrases would your eliminate?

Adding "ize" to a noun so it becomes something resembling a verb.
Of course!!
Please add "Hannatize" to the list.

RE: dinghy windshield protector

I would figure grit, sand or small stones getting between the shield and windshield might result in scratches. Something like I have seen on MHs with the bras on the front. They look pretty good, but holding wet grit against the paint is a disaster.

RE: What is a fair starting offer to make to dealer?

I understand where you are coming from here and have been in the same situation. You want to make an offer that will not insult the dealer, but by the same token, you don't want to make an offer higher than one he would accept. i.e. leave a pile of money 'at the table'. I have this second thought thing every time I buy something and my offer gets accepted. "Would he have taken less?". One of my many faults is, when I get ready to buy something I don't want to *****foot around with offers and counter offers. I usually tell the sales guy I will not try to BS him and I expect the same treatment, that when he insults me with some ridiculous offer I will be on my way to another dealer. Most of the time we come to a meeting of the minds. My last MH would have come cheaper if I had waited a couple or three months however.
I usually end up paying more than I ought to have ;)

RE: Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Trucks too

You know, even in the shape the old dumper is in, it still exudes a sense of power and toughness. Many years ago as kid I had a summer job driving an old 5 ton Dodge for a local construction company. Slow as molasses, but would pull the moon.
I like all the old heavy equipment.

RE: aircard

good discussion folks! Can I buy an air card (USB) that accepts an antenna from some place other than the service provider I want to use? Need internet for 3-4 months this summer in SW S Dakota. Verizon has coverage in that area, but wants 2 year contract. Finally said they would do monthly if I bought my own air card. I want an antenna as we will be in the mountains and signal is weaker there. They want a pile of money and I figure there has to be a cheaper source with same results. I just need someone to tell me what to buy and where.

RE: Skunk, Still

Had one take up residence under our house once. That sucker raised kits (or babies? whatever!) Didn't smell it until something got it upset. Tried live traps and managed to catch a couple of the babies as they were 'toddling'. But mama was too smart for me, would not go into the trap. For the next couple of years we would smell a skunk at night as it inspected the now-repaired access to the crawl space. Nasty smelling creature. I guess that is what we get for living in the woods.

RE: Springtime states to avoid!

We had terrible winds coming off the mountains in Montana a few years ago. The trucks on the interstate were slowed down to like 25-30 mph. I would have stopped if there had been some place to stop and hide. Two days and then it got a little better.

RE: Yellowstone Volcano (Here We Go Again)!

Hmmmmm.... From what I have read, this thing averages a blowout about every 60k years. It has been about 70k since the last one. Overdue? There is also a huge bulge building in the bottom of the lake and seems to be growing about an inch per year. Believe I will wait and see what happens. Again from what I have read, if this thing were to really blow most of the US would suffer huge damages from ash etc.

What words or phrases would your eliminate?

I heard someone on a talk radio show yesterday talking about words and phrases they hated to hear and would like to eliminate. I thought of several and perhaps you can add to the list.
Carbon footpriint
Green (in the ecological sense)
Maverick (Sarah and John were 'mavericks'}
Hi, Billy Mays here (grrrrrr)
global warming

RE: Save a Blade????

Things are tough right now, but not so tough that I cannot afford razor blades. I have not seen the device nor a blade that is has sharpened, but something tells me this is a device whose time has NOT come. Will pass thanks.
